One member of Congress who opted to skip President Obama's final State of the Union address Tuesday night was Sen. Ted Cruz.

The Republican presidential candidate was campaigning Tuesday in New Hampshire — talking about the right to bear arms, attacking the president and fending off charges from opponent Donald Trump that he's not a natural-born citizen.

WBUR's senior political reporter Anthony Brooks reports for Morning Edition from the campaign trail.

This segment aired on January 13, 2016.
