Bill McCarthy, a Republican National Convention delegate from Worcester, has been a Donald Trump supporter from the start. McCarthy is a former Connecticut state trooper and now teaches criminal justice at Quinsigamond Community College.

This is the first time he's attended a convention. One theme of the event is "Make America Safe Again" — something that strikes a chord with McCarthy. He's worried about immigration and its effects on national security. He joined WBUR's All Things Considered to discuss those concerns and his support for Trump.

This segment aired on July 19, 2016.
