This Election Day, People Are Flocking To Susan B. Anthony's Grave In N.Y.

With Hillary Clinton poised perhaps to become America's first female president, hundreds of people flocked Tuesday morning to the New York grave of famous suffragist Susan B. Anthony.

People were leaving flowers and affixing their "I Voted" stickers to the grave, which is located at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester.

According to the Rochester-based Democrat & Chronicle, it's "an Election Day tradition that has gained new meaning with the candidacy of Hillary Clinton." NPR reports that the cemetery is extending its hours until 9 p.m., when polls close there.

WROC-TV in Rochester has a Facebook Live feed of the scene:

Anthony was born in Adams, Massachusetts. MassLive reports that voters also visited her birthplace on Tuesday.

"Women have been coming in, men, families, mothers who brought their children to participate in the democratic process, they've come here to educate themselves, to pay homage, to just feel her essence by coming to the room that she was born in," Colleen Janz, executive director of the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum, told MassLive.

Adams died in 1906 — 14 years before the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote.

MassLive reports that voters also visited Anthony's Adams birthplace on Tuesday.

The Boston Women's Memorial, on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, also had at least one "I Voted" sticker Tuesday morning, on the likeness of suffragist Lucy Stone:
