It can be seen as one of the moral aspects of the Hippocratic Oath that in a medical crisis you expect doctors to tell you the compassionate, if tough, truth.

So what do you make of the fact that a new study finds that an alarming number of young doctors aren't as honest as we'd like them to be? Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital say as many as 1 in 20 young doctors applying to the hospital's residency program committed plagiarism in their admissions essays.

Guests:

  • Dr. Scott Segal, vice chairman for education at Brigham and Women’s anesthesiology department

This program aired on July 20, 2010.
