Chef Brendan Ryan: Hero Of Framingham School Lunch

Earlier this summer I did some reporting on the food served at Boston Public Schools. A lot of well-intentioned people work valiantly every day there to serve the best meals they can, but the system bleeds money while pumping out a lot of processed food.

In the course of my reporting, sources kept saying the same thing: "If you wanna see school food done right, check out this guy in Framingham."

The guy is Chef Brendan Ryan, food service director for Framingham Public Schools. He is so serious about fresh produce that he's growing his own in the courtyard at Framingham High.
