Newly released email records suggest that Tim Cahill's gubernatorial campaign may have been illegally using his position as state treasurer to support his candidacy. It's the latest twist in the charges and counter charges flying in the race for the governor's office. New polling shows that the controversy may be helping incumbent Deval Patrick.

Also, an FBI informant in the corruption case against Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner is scheduled to appear in court Friday. The informant suggested earlier in the week that he wants to avoid testifying against the long-time politician.

And the Catholic Church gives its blessing to the proposed sale of its nonprofit Caritas Christi hospital chain to a for-profit entity.
