Resume

Harvard graduate and Cambridge native Avi Steinberg never imagined himself as a prison employee.

A few years after graduation, Steinberg — then a freelance obituary writer hungry for more stable work — came across a job listing he couldn't resist. After a series of intense interviews, he became a prison librarian and creative writing teacher at Boston's Suffolk County House of Correction, also known as South Bay. What followed were two years of learning that no university could ever provide.
