From Rock Star To Writer, Kristin Hersh Has Seen It All

Kristin Hersh's name and voice might sound familiar. She was the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Throwing Muses and the trio 50 Foot Wave. She's also recorded a significant amount of her own solo work.

What you might not know is that this singer, songwriter, musician and mother of four says she's been to hell and back. She chronicles her journey in her new memoir, Rat Girl.

Hersh joins us to play a song, read from her book, remember her performing years in Boston, and talk about CASH Music, an organization she created to help musicians circumvent the traditional music industry model.
