Ross may enjoy the reprieve. His term as president included the expulsion of councilor Chuck Turner, a very public contract showdown with city firefighters, closure threats of Boston public libraries, and a battle over the direction of the Boston Public Schools. And that's all just in the past year, one of the two in which he served as council president.

Ross isn't going anywhere, however. Next month, Councilor Stephen Murphy will assume the council presidency, and Ross will continue to hold his role as councilor.

As he embarks on that transition, Ross returns to the show to look back at his tenure as council president, and to look forward to what he hopes to accomplish next year.
