A New Year's Cocktail To Spice Up Your Night
ResumeBe it Cooks or Clicquot, real or ersatz, there'll be a lot champagne popping when the ball finally drops tomorrow.
But for those looking to jazz up that effervescent New Year's classic, the bar Drink in South Boston has a high-caliber cocktail from the birthplace of bubbly.
WBUR's Public Radio Kitchen blog featured Misty Kalkofen, a bartender at Drink, in its post "8 Drinks for New Year's and Beyond." She named the French 75 as one of her favorite New Year's drinks.
French 75
1 oz London dry gin
1/2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup (1:1)
sparkling wine
Shake the gin, lemon and simple syrup over 2 ice cubes just to chill and incorporate the ingredients.
Strain into a champagne flute.
Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a long lemon twist.
