Boston Education Board Approves New Charter Schools

The Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education gave the green light to 16 new charter schools Monday, but the vote wasn't without controversy.

Previously, State Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester had recommended approval of 17 new charter schools. The board on Monday rejected the application for the Lynn Preparatory Charter school, but approved all of the other schools recommended by Chester.
