Resume

Just as seen in the recent revolutions in North Africa, news has spread rapidly amidst crisis out of even the most unplugged areas of Japan. And not just news — the taste, the feel of the experience.

Global Voices is a network of bloggers co-founded by Ethan Zuckerman, a researcher here in Boston at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society. They've done a remarkable job aggregating and curating citizen media from the world's major crisis spots in recent months.

Perhaps the most unique and valuable thing they do is to translate tweets and blog posts into English, and other languages, so that we outside of Japan can get an even more intimate look at what's happening there.

Guest:

  • Ethan Zuckerman, founder, Global Voices

This segment aired on March 14, 2011.
