Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, who today made an announcement about federal approval of construction plans for Cape Wind, is big Cape Wind booster. The proposed windfarm in Nantucket Sound has wound its way through more than a decade of regulatory redtape, legal challenges, and political protest.

"We are in the process of making believers out of skeptics of offshore wind," Salazar said. "And this is one of the reasons why this project here is so important."

The federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement has approved the plans for Cape Wind, which gets the controversial project one last step closer to actual construction. Sort of.
