Transportation Secretary Mullan To Step Down This Year
ResumeTransportation Secretary Jeffrey Mullan will step down this fall, the Boston Globe is reporting.
Boston Globe State House Bureau Chief Frank Phillips tells Radio Boston that Mullan is stepping down over a salary issue. Mullan has been under intense scrutiny over his handling of an incident from earlier this year in which a 110-pound light fixture fell out of a ceiling in a Big Dig tunnel.

UPDATE at 4:50 ET: In a statement received by WBUR, Transportation Secretary Jeffrey Mullan said he is planning to step down but has not set a date. Mullan also said he told Governor Patrick back in May that he would like to resign, but has not finalized his plans.
