On September 11, 2001, Karleton Fyfe — a young businessman, husband and father — boarded American Airlines Flight 11 in Boston bound for Los Angeles. When hijackers crashed the plane into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, Fife perished with all aboard, and became one of the nearly 3,000 victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Fife left behind an 18-month old son, Jackson. Haven, his wife and high school sweetheart had just learned that she was pregnant with their second son, Parker. Ten years later, Haven Fyfe-Kiernan, a psycho-therapist from Newton, has re-married.

We talked to her recently about 9/11, about how her sons are still coming to terms with what happened to their father, and about what her life was like ten years ago — before everything changed.
