Love Letters: Get off the Phone!
ResumeWalk into any Boston bistro on a Friday night, and you can find at least one table where a couple is visibly, deeply, profoundly in love. . . with their cell phones.
What happens when your significant other can't put away the cell phone?
Meredith Goldstein of The Boston Globe's Love Letters column, got this letter from "Tired of Cell Phones" in Boston:
My boyfriend is addicted to his cell phone. He is always texting or taking calls from his family and friends while we're hanging out […]
He has also taken his phone out during dates to read articles. When I told him to put the phone away during one of these dates, he told me that he was bored and just wanted to read something.
This issue really bothers me because I believe that it comes down to respect. […] Am I overreacting or is there a better way that I can deal with this? Please help!
Tweets, texts, and games all take up our brain space and pull us away from what we're doing - or do they benefit our interpersonal relationships?
