Just a day ahead of the deadline, Massachusetts leaders have filled the last two positions on the state's new Gaming Commission.

State leaders on Tuesday named retired Appeals Court Justice James McHugh and former Springfield City Councilor Bruce Stebbins to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

The commission has broad powers to write regulations and award licenses for up to three resort-style casinos in Massachusetts.

The last two positions were appointed jointly by Gov. Deval Patrick, Attorney General Martha Coakley and Treasurer Steve Grossman.

WBUR's Curt Nickisch joined Radio Boston to discuss the announcement.
