Well, the heat wave has finally lifted, which means you might want to step out this weekend and do something more than just collapse in front of an air conditioner. We've got some suggestions.

Where: The Factory Theatre, 791 Tremont Street (enter through the parking lot out back)

When: Through Sunday, July 21

Price:  $15 (students/senior) to $18

More: "True Believers" is a personal take on comic book culture. It's set during the week of a comic book convention and the characters include fanboys, comic book writers, cybernetically-enhanced humans and aspiring crime fighters. Throw in a love story and hero/villian rivalry, and you've got all your bases covered.

What: Puppet Showplace Slam!

Where: Puppet Showplace Theatre

When: Saturday, July 21 at 8 p.m.

Price: $13 (students/members) to $15

More: Sort of like a poetry or story slam — the Puppet Showplace Slam features lots of short-form performances or mini-plays. Every act includes puppets and the performers come from all sorts of backgrounds and puppetry experience levels. This form of puppetry is for grown-ups. Little's Creatures (in the video above) have performed at slams in the past and might give you a good idea of what to expect.
