The final day of the Democratic National Convention is here and all of the focus is on the big finale: President Obama's formal acceptance of the nomination.

But just outside the reach of the the prime-time spotlight — meeting at early morning breakfasts and impromptu planning sessions — are the people on the ground tasked with making President Obama's re-election quest a reality: the delegates.

After the balloons drop and the Democratic convention packs up in Charlotte, the real work for Obama's foot soldiers starts.

WBUR's Fred Thys is in Charlotte and had the chance to speak to some of the Massachusetts delegates about their role in the presidential race and the Massachusetts race for U.S. Senate between Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Scott Brown.

Guest:

  • Fred Thys, WBUR reporter

This segment aired on September 6, 2012.
