Gov. Deval Patrick said Thursday he hopes that the state widens the scope of its investigation into misconduct by a state drug lab chemist.

"I fully expect and indeed I will say that I hope there are charges," Gov. Patrick said.

The investigation concerns the actions of state lab chemist Annie Dookan, who admitted faking drug sample results, forging signatures and violating lab protocols. More explicit details of her actions were revealed in state police reports obtained Wednesday.
