Gov. Deval Patrick's proposed $1.9 billion total tax increase to fund transportation and education improvements has faced fresh criticism from House Speaker Robert DeLeo.

Speaking at a Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce breakfast, the Winthrop Democrat called for a much more moderate package of tax increases.
