It's been a long time coming, but the unofficial start of the summer season is here.

So take a moment to close your eyes and imagine summer and some of the sounds associated with that lovely, brief season.

If you spend summertime here in New England, you might be hearing the sound of rolling waves on a beach, or the sharp whistle of a ferry--whatever it is, sound can transport us back to a place and time.

That's exactly what Steve Wilkes had in mind when he created the project "Hear Cape Cod."

Wilkes is a percussionist and professor at Berklee College of Music, and for the past 3 years he recorded the sounds  of Cape Cod.

He discusses the project on Tuesday, May 28th at Cafe 939 in Boston.
