The White House is making the hard sell for a military strike on Syria. Today the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held the first of two hearings while President Obama met with the heads of key congressional committees and re-emphasized that intervention would be limited.

WBUR's Sacha Pfeiffer asked a Massachusetts congressman how he plans to vote on Syria (click here for a full transcript of that conversation) and Meghna Chakrabarti spoke about the upcoming debate in Congress with an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq.

 Guests

Jim McGovern, U.S. representative for the 2nd congressional district of Massachusetts

Andrew Bacevich, professor of international relations and history at Boston University and author of the new book "Breach of Trust: How Americans Failed Their Soldiers and Their Country"

This segment aired on September 3, 2013.
