The federal shutdown might be affecting Boston College football. The Department of Defense has ordered the suspension of intercollegiate activities for it's military academies, which means this Saturday's homecoming game against Army may not take place.

If the Cleveland Indians beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the one-game wildcard playoff Wednesday night, former Red Sox manager Terry Francona, who was fired as Red Sox manager after the team's end of the season collapse two years ago, would be back in town.

The Patriots are 4-and-0, but many fans aren't satisfied.

Plus, as the Bruins get ready to open their season, Mayor Thomas M. Menino makes good on last year's lost bet to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. He posted an promotional video for Chicago on Boston's official website.

Guest

Bill Littlefield, host of NPR's Only a Game.

This segment aired on October 2, 2013.
