Turning off your devices and stopping the chatter in your brain is difficult, but increasingly, evidence shows that being in the present moment, or practicing mindfulness, is really beneficial. And it's certainly in vogue. A few years back, a report from the NIH found that Americans spent about $4-billion dollars on mindfulness-related alternative medicine in just one year. Educators, the tech sector, members of Congress and even the Pentagon are employing its techniques to achieve focus in a frantic world.

Guest

Jon Kabat-Zinn, Professor of Medicine Emeritus and founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

This segment aired on January 27, 2014.
