Late last month, Governor Deval Patrick banned the prescription and sale of hydrocodone-only drugs, which includes the recently FDA approved painkiller Zohydro. Of concern is that Zohydro can be easily crushed and then snorted or injected, potentially exacerbating the state's opiate abuse problem.

Today a federal judge heard arguments that the Massachusetts ban on Zohydro is unconstitutional. She declined to make a ruling, so as for now, the ban still stands.
