Week In Review: Legislation Passes On Beacon Hill, New Chief Justice, New Red Sox

Beacon Hill's 2014 legislative session concluded early Friday morning after an all-night lawmaking marathon.

Lawmakers passed a flurry of bills to tighten gun laws, boost economic , control campaign finance, crack down on domestic violence and provide more treatment for substance abuse.

Also this week, Ralph Gants was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court and Boston mayor Marty Walsh stirred up controversy after second-guessing the federal corruption conviction of former probation commissioner, John O'Brien.

And yesterday, after a series of dramatic trades, the Red Sox shocked their nation by dismantling what remained of their 2013 championship team — letting go of Jon Lester, Jonny Gomes and four other players.
