Jimmy Tingle has a new comedy show that's now touring Cape Cod. Tingle is something of a local institution — a product of the Boston comedy boom of the 1980s, which brought us people like Dennis Leary, Paula Poundstone and Bobcat Goldthwait.

Tingle is a Cambridge native who often talks about his working-class Catholic roots. Over the decades, he's toured the country as a political humorist, writer, actor and filmmaker. He did commentaries for 60 Minutes II and MSNBC. And in 2010 he earned a master's degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

His latest show, which he'll perform Saturday night at the Payomet Center Performing Arts Center in Truro, is called "Making Comic Sense: An Evening of Comedy, Commentary and Conversation." Click here for a list of his upcoming shows.

WBUR's Anthony Brooks and Sacha Pfeiffer talk with Tingle about his brand of news commentary and political comedy.
