Boston Seeks To Increase Teacher Diversity

Monday night, the Boston City Council's Committee on Education will focus on diversifying Boston's classrooms.

It's an issue city schools have struggled with for decades — and the problem isn't student diversity, but diversity among teachers.

Eighty-seven percent of Boston school students are kids of color, but only 38 percent of Boston's teachers are minorities.

And — for the past decade — that number's been steadily declining.
