There's a flurry of activity on the South Coast right now: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the MBTA are hosting the first of a series of six public meetings about South Coast Rail alternatives Wednesday night.

More immediately, all three offshore wind developers competing to build turbines south of Martha's Vineyard signed a letter of intent Tuesday to stage their operations in New Bedford. It's a major win for the city, and a significant step forward in launching the wind energy industry in southeastern Massachusetts.
