In September, Richard Carrick was named the new chair of Berklee's Composition Department. Carrick moved to Boston after living in Rwanda, where he was commissioned to write an official arrangement of the country's national anthem.

He talks to us about living in Rwanda, how he thinks about composing and arranging, and what kind of music influences him.
