Five people were arrested and detained yesterday at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Lawrence when they showed up for scheduled appointments. Some were looking to begin their green card application process.

All of the individuals had deportation orders. Some were made aware that they could be detained by their attorneys. That didn't stop them from keeping their appointments.

These actions are concerning some immigration advocates and lawyers.
