A federal court judge is looking into the authority of federal immigration agents when it comes to arresting and detaining some immigrants.

Already the hearings have resulted in a promise that federal agents here will no longer arrest undocumented immigrants who are visiting government offices trying to gain legal status.

This includes Lucimar de Souza, a Brazilian immigrant married to an American who was separated from her three children for three months after she was detained at a government office in Boston. During the hearing, Judge Mark Wolf played an emotional video of her reuniting with her 10-year-old son.
