Congressman Michael Capuano's nearly 20-year tenure in Congress is over. He was defeated by Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley, who described her victory as part of a movement within the Democratic Party.

There was a very different result in the 1st district. Incumbent Richard Neal, who has been in Congress for almost 30 years, bested his challenger Tahirah Amatul-Wadud, a Springfield attorney, by a nearly two to one margin.

In the 3rd district, Lori Trahan declared a narrow victory over Daniel Koh on Wednesday afternoon. But, in anticipation of a recount, Secretary of State Bill Galvin has ordered all ballots from the race sealed and locked away.
