On Friday, following the FBI's week-long investigation into allegations of sexual abuse,  Judge Kavanaugh's nomination cleared a major hurdle.

In a procedural vote, 51 to 49 senators signaled they were in favor of his Supreme Court nomination, which moves the nomination forward to a final vote that could come as early as Saturday.

The fate of the court will likely be sealed by Republican Susan Collins of Maine when she announces her decision on the Senate floor on Friday afternoon.
