Among the major races this year, Massachusetts voters will decide who will become the new member of Congress in the state's 3rd district.

The sprawling, diverse district is currently represented by Rep. Niki Tsongas, who plans to retire this year.

Mike Mullen, an IT director from Maynard, is running for the seat as an independent. According to his campaign website, Mullen supports a single payer health care system, ballot initiative 3, which would uphold transgender protections, and comprehensive immigration reform.

In this three-way race, voters will decide between Mullen, the Democratic candidate Lori Trahan and Republican Rick Green.
