In a closed-door meeting on Wednesday, House Democrats voted to nominate California Representative Nancy Pelosi as the next Speaker of the House. Pelosi received 203 votes, but will need 218 votes in January to be named Speaker. Some Democratic members of Congress have said they will not support Pelosi's bid for Speaker because they believe the party needs new leadership.
