SJC Case Asks: Who Is Responsible For Fatal Drug Overdoses?

A case before Massachusetts' highest court today could have ramifications in other cases involving drug addiction and overdose deaths.

The justices heard an appeal of the conviction of Jesse Carrillo on drug distribution and involuntary manslaughter charges.

Carrillo admits that he bought the drugs and shared them--rather than sold them--with fellow UMass Amherst student, Eric Sinacori, who died of a fatal overdose.

The question here: is Carrillo responsible for Sinacori's death?
