Many "Game of Thrones" fans are disappointed about how the show's eighth and final season is playing out, citing rushed story lines and poor character development.

Some have gone so far as to petition HBO to remake season 8 in its entirety, this time with "competent writers." As of today, the petition has more than 850,000 signatures, which is a small fraction of the show's millions of viewers. But it does make us wonder what went on in the writers' room.
