'She Fights Like A Great Heroine': Playwright Melinda Lopez On Her Adaptation Of Lorca's 'Yerma'

The play "Yerma" is the story of a woman whose heart's desire is to have a child, an obsession that completely consumes her. It's originally by Spanish poet and dramatist Federico García Lorca and was first staged in 1934.

A new version, translated and adapted by award-winning Boston playwright Melinda Lopez, is now being staged by the Huntington Theatre Company.

"Yerma" will be on view at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA through June 30.
