How Gig Economy, Fitness Industry Are Faring Amid Coronavirus Concerns

We take stock of the economic impacts on gig economy workers. We hear from Mutwaly Hamid, an Uber driver and member of the Boston Independent Drivers Guild. Plus, Shannon Liss-Riordan, a workers’ rights lawyer, talks about her efforts to secure an emergency order to get ride-share employees access to employment benefits.

We also hear from two members of the fitness industry on how they are faring: Ali Singer, the Founder and CEO of YogaHub and a Boston Yoga instructor, and Steve McGuire, a Personal Trainer and the General Manager of GymIt in Brookline.

Plus, Robert Forrant, Professor of Labor History at UMass Lowell, gives us his analysis of the economic reverberation.
