Summer hasn't officially begun yet, but we're already feeling the heat here in Boston. It's the third straight day of 90-plus degree weather, and Acting Mayor Kim Janey declared a heat emergency in the city through Tuesday. Joining us to discuss is WBUR meteorologist David Epstein.

Then, we discuss a key piece of climate news in the Northeast, the regional Transportation Climate Initiative. On Friday, Connecticut backed out of the initiative designed to create a regional strategy to pay for emissions and invest in green technology. We're joined by David Cash, former commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

This segment aired on June 7, 2021.
