The controversial Massachusetts "millionaire's tax" is going to the ballot.

After years of political fighting and court battles, both chambers of the state legislature gathered on Beacon Hill Wednesday and approved amending the state's constitution to raise taxes on the state's highest earners. That means the so-called "Fair Share" amendment will be put on the ballot in 2022, where voters will decide its fate.

WBUR reporter Steve Brown was there and joins us from the State House. Later, we bring in Evan Horowitz, executive director of the Center for State Policy Analysis at Tufts University, for analysis.

This segment aired on June 9, 2021.
