Activists rallied in Copley Square Tuesday night to support the thousands taking to the streets 1,500 miles away, in Cuba.

Massachusetts is home to a small but mighty Cuban population — the 13th largest in the country — and many stand in solidarity, as family members and loved ones protest the lack of food and medical supplies on the island.

We hear from WBUR's Simón Ríos, who covered the protest. We also speak with Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern, who traveled to Cuba with President Obama in 2016, and is now calling on President Biden to "immediately reverse" Trump-era policies and embargoes.

This segment aired on July 14, 2021.
