John Barros has run for mayor of Boston twice. The first time, in 2013, he received an endorsement from the Boston Globe before the preliminary election in a wide open race. He did not advance to the general.

After serving as the City's Chief of Economic Development under the candidate who did win, Marty Walsh, he entered the fray again this year. That bid ended last Tuesday.

Now, a woman will be the next mayor of Boston, and a woman of color. But we will not have a Black mayor, despite three Black candidates.

John Barros joins us to unpack this race and what's at stake for our city.

This segment aired on September 23, 2021.
