Resume

We check in on the continuing crisis of homelessness, addiction and mental health at Mass. Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard in Boston. The temporary court, set up at the South Bay House of Correction in conjunction with then-Mayor Kim Janey's executive order to remove tents and temporary shelters from public spaces, is over. The termination of the Community Response Session comes as Mayor Michelle Wu has also suspended tent and shelter removal in the area. The ACLU challenged the process, but a judge ruled last week the city could continue. Wu has chosen not to. We speak with WBUR's Deborah Becker and Carol Rose, the executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts.

This segment aired on November 22, 2021.
