As hospitals were slammed with COVID cases in December over the holidays, Governor Baker called on 500 National Guard members to enter hospitals to lend a hand. He added 500 more this month to bolster the support even more.

And this is far from the first time we've tapped the National Guard during the pandemic: this is actually the 14th activation since March of 2020. They've been driving school buses, helping at vaccination sites, and supporting medical staff all across the state for months now.

National Guard members Major Vincent Mullen and Lieutenant Colonel Geoff Love joined us to tell us a bit more about the National Guard and their role in helping the state

This segment aired on January 27, 2022.
