This is the Radio Boston rundown for April 21. Our host is Simón Rios.

  • Realtors often encourage buyers to write so-called love letters to sellers — the idea is to make themselves stand out in a competitive housing market. But while the practice is not new, it's coming under scrutiny as possibly contributing to housing discrimination. Here in Massachusetts, love letters are allowed under state law, but there's been some movement among realtors to discourage the practice.
  • The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has recommended closing the Central Western Massachusetts Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northampton. We look at what this could mean for the thousands of veterans who currently receive care at the facility.
  • In New England, there is a whole thriving community of metal detector enthusiasts. There is a ton of history here to be found. We talk to one enthusiast, Jeremiah Ferris.

This program aired on April 21, 2022.
