A weekend of live performances, from classical music to spoken word
PlayWith the weather expected to be nice this weekend, swing by one of two outdoors arts events. Or, get comfortable inside a repurposed church and listen to classical music. WBUR senior arts and culture reporter Cristela Guerra shares these recommendations:
- ArtBeat 2022, Saturday, July 16, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, same time),Davis Square, Somerville. This multicultural arts festival spanning Davis Square offers live performances, interactive activities and food.
- New Narratives: Our Past and Present, Saturday, July 16, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., Mary Soo Hoo Park, Rose Kennedy Greenway, Boston. Asian American and Pacific islander artists lead through movement, an audio play, spoken word and live music.
- Aston Magna Music Festival: "All Handel", Saturday, July 16, 7 p.m., St. James Place, Great Barrington. This show features music by classical composer George Frideric Handel with performances by soprano Dominique Labelle.
