This is the Radio Boston rundown for Dec. 28. Tiziana Dearing is our host.

  • Martha and Deisy Escobar are the voices behind the weekly bilingual radio program, Mundo Latino, which airs on WTBR Pittsfield Community Radio. We meet the duo and learn about their passion for uplifting members of the Latino community and connecting immigrants with community support services.
  • A mural that aims to celebrate "Unsung Heroes" was unveiled in September across the street from Freedom House in Dorchester. We speak with the artist, Karmimadeebora McMillan, about why she chose Freedom House, and the power of site-specific artwork. We also hear from Charla Jones, board member of Now + There, an organization focused on curating public art.
  • In a book project from the literacy nonprofit 826 Boston, teen writers from across Boston describe gentrification, culture and belonging in their neighborhoods. Two young contributors and their instructor, Asiyah Herrera, share their stories about watching their neighborhoods change around them.

This program aired on December 28, 2022.
